Restore PT specializes in outpatient orthopedics and sports injury rehabilitation, manual therapies, and dry needling treatments – a type of manual therapy. Unlike acupuncture, dry needling is based on modern Western medicine and is a popular technique used to identify and treat ‘knots’ or ‘trigger points’ to reduce pain, decrease muscle spasms, relax tight muscles, and restore muscles. Restore PT is the second physical therapy center Dr. Kimberly Scales owns and operates. Her first center, and our February client spotlight, In Balance Rehab, is located in Cocoa Beach, Florida. Although these two physical therapy centers are similar, the type of injuries treated may vary. For example, injuries may result from outdoor activities such as mountain biking, hiking, cross country running, and snow skiing. Sports rehabilitation requires an understanding of the mechanics of the body and the sport. At Restore PT, they will assess your movement patterns and provide the best recommendation for your rehabilitation. Restore PT is passionate about providing highly individualized care in a comfortable atmosphere that is uplifting, highly-skilled and service-oriented.
Dr. Scales has been practicing physical therapy for over 30 years with a Doctor of Physical Therapy degree from the University of St. Augustine for Health Sciences and BS in Physical Therapy from the University of Florida. She has completed extensive post-graduate coursework in orthopedics, manual therapy and sport-specific injury prevention. She has advanced training with a certification in Manual Therapy, Dry Needling and is currently in the process of receiving her certification in Acupuncture.
